Where's the song ~~ "Don't let your daughters grow up to marry a Cowboy" ?

Life is tough! Requires hard physical work, long, long days of pain, dirt, and broken fingernails.
Days of frigid cold & scorching heat; through the dust & mud; daybreak into the darkness of nite~~
the heart & body becomes toughened & weathered replicating leather!
A forever constant factor for a real Cowboy's Wife is tons of sweat, oceans of tears and a constant 'drought' in the wallet!

IF she wants to spend anytime at all with her Cowboy, she must do as he does, you become partners!

Kick off your boots, grab a cup of coffee, sit back and envision yourself in my life!
... It really isn't that bad! There are many rewards to be had to make it a great lifestyle! ...

Why, when you have plans....

.....do they always go amuck??

I awoke this morning with grandiose goals.
They failed to come to fruition.
  • Hence, no continuation from yesterday's Oprah post.
  • Cowboy is gone gathering cattle up north for a week.
  • Chores are all mine to do again.
  • It dropped to 19 degrees last night....BRRRRRrrrrrrr!
  • Water troughs were froze.
  • The electric fence is NOT working and I cannot tell you how many times I walked around these pastures and pens, contorting my neck, touching wires, rewrapping, etc. until I just gave up! I'm pretty good at finding the 'errors' but not today! Hopefully, every critter will save their energy for warmth & not test the waters! Of course they'd have to climb through 4 other wires too if they feel the need for escape....but my luck???
  • Chickens thought they died as I didn't lock them up in their coop last night.
  • Split kindling and starter size firewood and brought armloads of wood in, hopefully for 2 days at least. I needed to warm the house up. Yea! my first fire of the year! A month earlier than normal, so Cowboy had better come back with a bunch more firewood!
  • Have been on the phone non stop with different family members today with different "issues" with each one. (Yes...I have BROAD shoulders & cauliflower ears and that is why I'm so short! Years do take a toll!)
  • My one sister is coming tomorrow for the weekend...bringing her 2 grandkids that she's raising...this will be "interesting" to say the least....(long story).
  • I'm tuckered out and didn't get to do my curling up with a book and numerous cups of tea or coffee as I had hoped and dreamed about, but at least I didn't have to make dinner!

PB & J is always good for me!

G' nite, sweet dreams and I'll catch up with ya'll when I can squeeze a few minutes in behind closed doors...alone...I will be needing some alone time these next 2-1/2 days with the sister's visit.
(but where the heck are my blogrolls?? Blog Rolling Gone?? or just 'down' for the night??)
10/10~Guess they got hacked into...supposedly, now I'm going to go through and write all of you down,
so I don't lose it again...

Hi Barb,

Nineteen degrees? Brrr, that sounds way too chilly for October. Our low was 49 this morning, but we'll get to 80 today. Perfect weather.

I did go and order my propane the other day, and they came and filled my tank yesterday. I also have a little wood stove, as a supplement. Got lots of wood around here, too, as I live in the woods, and there are always dead trees and branches I can cut up, and do. My one son helps, but I also do my own. I have a small chain saw, and actually enjoy using it. Been doing that for years.

Hope cowboy does come home with a load of firewood! Wish you lived closer, you could come and get some from my woods.

Well, Friday is our Mexican restaurant day. Yum!

Have a good weekend. Stay warm!

Hugs,

Renie

Wow, what can I say apart from would you like a cuppa? I can make one for you now. Put your feet up and we'll have a chat.

We've had a beautiful day here today, but it has turned a little colder now. Our banks are falling to pieces and we have no money, but apart from that we're doing fine...lol

best wishes

I wish I could just hop over there and hang out with you. I hate the cold but I'd suck it up and fix you soups and bake you bread. I might even try and entertain you with goofy stories.

Promise.

Love,
Lacy

P.S. I posted another installment of that there story.

We had a temp of 18 dergees here on Friday morning........dang cold for this time of year!! And I know how you feel when you have plans and they go amuck.......that is always my luck!! We did get a bit of snow on the range in front of our house yesterday.....I took some shots, but can't seem to get them downloaded off my camera......dumb thing!! Wish I had some firewood for a fire in my little, seldom used fire place.....Hayman refuses to go cut wood and of course we can't afford to buy it already cut.....a cord of wood sells for around $300 here!! We don't have to many trees to cut from, so most folks travel into Oregon or other areas to cut......that's why Hayman won't go cut wood...to far and to costly. No fire for me until December.....sniff, sniff, sniff.......enjoy your weekend and make sure to take time to put your feet up and relax a bit... =D (((((((HUGS)))))) to you.

19 degrees?! Yikes! We are just seeing our first part of fall and what you have is like our winter! Although we really dont have very many days that cold. Sounds like you got a lot of work done and very little relaxing done. I like sitting by the fire with a warm drink - maybe by the end of the month we'll be ready for a fire.

Hope you are having a good visit with sister! Here's a (((((hug)))) for warmth!

If anyone ever deserved a vacation, it would be YOU! I know you don't really get much in the line of vacations though. Sorry to hear that Murphy's Law is hard at work in your world. I hope things fall back into place soon.

So you have some of our cold weather too??? Stay warm- and I'm so jealous that you have a fireplace and I don't- that's grand!

and I hope you have a good visit regardless of the house full- just remember it will be good blog fodder when it's all over with!

GeckoGirl said...

How's your visit going?
I somewhat cringe when my sis comes for a visit; she seems to become "the prodigal child" and I fade into the background! We've gotten better at visiting: she stays with my folks and I stay for about 3 hours and go home. Works for me!! Can't wait to hear how the visit went and what pops up on your blog as a result of the "visit" hee hee :@)~Teresa~
