Where's the song ~~ "Don't let your daughters grow up to marry a Cowboy" ?

Life is tough! Requires hard physical work, long, long days of pain, dirt, and broken fingernails.
Days of frigid cold & scorching heat; through the dust & mud; daybreak into the darkness of nite~~
the heart & body becomes toughened & weathered replicating leather!
A forever constant factor for a real Cowboy's Wife is tons of sweat, oceans of tears and a constant 'drought' in the wallet!

IF she wants to spend anytime at all with her Cowboy, she must do as he does, you become partners!

Kick off your boots, grab a cup of coffee, sit back and envision yourself in my life!
... It really isn't that bad! There are many rewards to be had to make it a great lifestyle! ...

My Wedding Vows Stated...

...For Better or For WORSE.

NOT

...For Better or For HORSE!

This post is for those of you who "Lurked" and did not want your comment read by others.
Choosing anonymity instead, by emailing me regarding #10 in my last post.
In case you 'come back' lurking...I respond in this way to you all....

Let me first tell you-
YOU have never, nor could you,
walk in & fill my shoes...

~
There is a difference between having HORSES in your life
for recreation and pleasure;
As "tools" for ranch work, feedlots and pack outfits.
Each of which I have enjoyed immensely.
I have the utmost appreciation for and an ultimate respect
for having these HORSES, with these purposes in our lives.
~
You then have those HORSES in your life ...
as being your source of income, your survival.
These HORSES come with "baggage", and another human "attached".
These HORSES presence, their purposes takes on a different meaning now.

You give up your personal privacy.
You fore go the luxury of days or weekends off.
Unlike a 9-5 job, you do not get to shut the door behind you
when your shift is over, drive home...
...and have a life!

~

As far as me "getting out of Dodge" and living at the beach,
"allowing Cowboy to have a woman who truly shares...."
~
You know not what LOVE is,
nor what our Cowboy way of life is!
~
Enjoy your own life...
...and don't judge people for things you know nothing about!

What's this? You had someone/s JUDGE you for just explaining how you feel?
Let me at 'em!
I know EXACTLY what you were saying... And I wasn't the only one who understood, either!

I thought this was a free country? You thoughts may be stated without retribution or judgement.
You state your feelings, I state mine. That's how friends get to know one another.
This is free theraphy here not Judge Judy's!
I understand! I do not judge you. That is as silly and immature as never speaking to someone because they do not like chocolate!

GO BARB!

For those of you who choose to bash Barb, let me tell you-
AS a woman who works in equine hoof care as a PROFESSION, alongside my HUSBAND, y'all need to shut the hell up and go away.

Until you have walked a mile in ANY of our boots, kiss my pucker spot.

Horses are wonderful critters, but when you have clients calling you at ALL hours of the day and night, clients who are INCONSIDERATE and don't freaking TEACH THEIR HORSES MANNERS (or hire someone like Cowboy to teach them,) Clients who bounce checks (bet your 9 to 5 paycheck never bounced,) clients who cancel at the last second (like as you pull into their freaking driveway,) and then you have the heartache. You see, WE see them all- the lame, the sound, the dying, the newly born. We see the ones who beg to be let go, to save what little bit of dignity they have left, and lay down in peace. But the HUMAN that owns them won't do it out of some misplaced sense of "love" for the horse....

Until YOU can spend three months- no, three DAYS- in our shoes? Kiss My Pucker Spot. Keep your mouth shut, and try to learn something while you learn to think OUTSIDE the box.

Cowboy Up there Barb, and know that *I* Love You!

I fully understand what Barb was saying. Horses come at a price that is more than just financial. You get a lot out of them but you also have to put a tremendous amount into them. A lot of times those scales do not tip evenly and they can be a downright hardship especially during times of struggle.

Amen Barb!

Amen sister! I can tell you right now, my mother would so love to have a life without horses! When your total existence revolves around the animal and you can't go to this or that because no one is there to feed or check cattle, you start to dream about life without em!

I know exactly where you were coming from and those that didn't...well....then they don't know what it is like to truly be a cowboy's wife!

Love Ya!

I can't believe that people actaually had the gall to challenge yo on your FEELINGS. Well unfortunately I can believe it . I myself Love horses and cattle and on most days I wouldnt' want to be without them , however at the end of a bitterly cold stretch ,when the boarders ar not helping just calling to make sure thier "babies" are well cared for,or when I have had a "farmful of people all weekend I am often even if only momentarily ready to say "chuck it!"
Your Blog , Your Life ,Your feelings and to anyone who doesn't like it, well.. don't feel obligated to stay and read it.

You tell 'em Barb! I figured you'd get some flack on that #10! My husband, my wonderful, loving, kind, husband would happily live without the horses because they really do hamper your freedom. It's one of the reasons I am downscaling my little herd. And why I'm getting out of the breeding business, although I love my stallion and will keep him to ride- but this will be the last one.

You'd get rid of anything to do with horses? I'm shocked! :P :ewink:

I guess with blogging you get the good, the bad and the ugly.

Sorry you saw some ugly.

I love, LOVE when people are real. I love to see people open their hearts and show raw emotion.

And that's why I come back to read your posts.

Love you, Barb.

I can-not understand someone criticizing another person's blog anonymously...... Ive had a couple people do that to me and it makes me so mad I could spit! I always say, IF you have something negative to say at least leave your name so I can respond!
You handled this well Barb! I, and the people who count, ALL knew what you were talking about!
Blessings

Hi there, I just saw this on Mrs. Mom so I thought I'd take a peek and see what the deal was going on. Although I didn't see any comments posted, I saw it said people emailed you. I hate that some people just can't keep to themselves. As much as I LOVE my girls, and I do want horses in my life forever in some capacity, I can totally see where you are coming from. Heck, I feel that way sometimes even about my dogs (I love them dearly, but sometimes just can't wait until I don't have that responsibility anymore) and we know those don't take nearly the effort that horses do.

I don't think anyone can say they like doing something 24/7 and be completely honest. I think everyone has some sort of resentment at some point in time. Good luck :) And I hope someday you do get to retire to the beautiful beach and be care free and actually have some pocket change for once :)

Well "they" Obviously don't know about your "Mafia Type Family" Or they wouldn't have said anything, or maybe that is why it was anyonomous? Some people have too much time on their hands and not enough sense in their head? What gives people the right to be rude? Did you tell them to jump in the ocean? You have plenty of true friends here that stand behind you 100%. And would stand in front of you to defend you as well! Back off "Lurkers" Or you will have a "Trainwreck" on your hands!

Hey Barb...Guess I've been so wrapped up with Kitty that I missed this one and you never even let on.

My first response, like everyone else here, was "Let Me At 'Em!" but I think your posse showed up in spades and I'm a little late for the ride.

I LOVED #10 because you took a chance and let your heart hang out. Who wants to read a list of ten little buttoned-up pansy answers? NOT me and, from the evidence, not the gang here. Good for you for givin' them "what for." Bet they don't have a long list of friends cheering them on. Maybe if THEY took a chance at being real, they would.

YOU TELL 'EM! You have nothing to be sorry about and I'm glad you're not.

Cripes! Did some creeps lecture or judge you? Plus, how cowardly to cloak themselves in anonymity. How DARE they question your choices and the love for your cowboy! This happens far too often in the blogging world and is THE reason I have taken long breaks from bloggin.

However, moderation feature for comments has helped ease that stress. I have learned to ignore the spam, the come-ons, the "etcs"... (It's one of the reasons I moderate my comments and often choose to ignore the ignoramuses who are so off the bull's eye, because the bull is obscuring common sense and respect for your opinions.

#10 spoke to my soul. As you read, I'm "green-eyed lady (gel for short), ocean lady from the song! Differences in desires, likes, dislikes, among loving mates is part of life.

That entire post of yours was an incredible gift for me to read. The only thing better would have been to sit at a table with you and hear it straight from you. Fantastic post from an independent gal I admire and am enjoying getting to know better!

Warmly,
gel

OOOH someone has some nerve to email you and bash you. OoooOOOooOOH. And you know what? Those or that perosn is just to chicken to get a public flogging on your comments.

Horses SUCK. I love mine but they were rescue animals and they are day to day to day to hour to minute work. Some people don't know what it take to rehabilitate an animal. Or for that matter to maintain a LARGE animal, ESP when they are getting cagey for lack of exercise or all of your undivided attention.

As far as the beach and your cowboy - Barb - the beach is a nice dream. It is the Pina Colada song. We have to have dreams to exist.
Luvs ya and sorry I didn't get to post eariler.

My thoughts? I think it's a crock of bull. What does your DREAM of what you were to do if you were ALONE have to do with "getting out of Dodge" or "allowing Cowboy, etc."? It's a dream. EVERYONE has dreams of what they would do if they were alone or if they'd taken a different path in life. I know exactly what you meant and there wasn't anything wrong about it. I loved the way you responded and I think C-ingspots has it right on. -Jen

Barb there are just some people that have nothing better to do than to judge others. I think it must be pretty sad to live a life trying to make yourself feel better by bashing someone else. You have every right to your feelings so wear them proudly.
