It Is Midnight...

…and the Sun is Shining!

See it?? It's Midnight...1-7-09
Yep...the
cow coughed up this photo for me! Nice of her wasn't it?

What 48 hours can do for my spirits!
My wintertime blues!

Midnight Sunday hovered at 13 degrees with gruesome clouds looming above.
A sprinkling plummeting of white shimmery crud fell once again!
6 additional inches on top umteen inches of older white layers!

By Noon Monday the heat was up 10 more degrees, now striking 28!
I grabbed the shovel, tossing and grumbling as I'd grown accustomed to,
until my aching muscles screamed “I want no more!”

Moisture began falling at Midnight Monday, muscling it’s way up to 35 degrees.
Giant wet droplets began falling by the bucketfuls!
The heavy pattering on the roof was music to my ears.
I drifted, happily, into sleep.

There was to be no nonsense as Noon Tuesday arrived!
42 degrees rang on the thermometer, the wind howled and the rain danced
in celebration of a grand meltdown!

It is now Midnight Tuesday and it's a searing 49 degrees!
The Pineapple Express, has arrived...
Alleluia!! (or is that Hula Hula!)
...quickly dissolving the White Ugly’s from my space!

When I awaken come morning…I do believe it will all be gone!

Maybe I should stay up all night,
watch the magic as it all melts away into Spring?

Fantasy? or Reality?....please be Reality!
Snake and all!

We've got a balmy 57 on this side of the mountains here at 2am! The rain however is really a pain in the rear! We've got water running in the back door and my son and his girlfriend may be here in the morning - evacuating from their apartment near the river in town. A sick part of me wishes this stuff was frozen..

We are currently hovering at 0 degrees C which is a shiverey 32 degrees F but glad to hear you are almost in the balmy season.

Can't wait for a bit of warmth, don't like this winter now.. gone off it completely lol

I'm not even going to tell you what the temperature is here. You would end up hating me and I just couldn't stand for that to happen.

Let's just say I'm almost nekkid and drinking iced tea right now... and leave it at that. *snort*

It was a balmy 30 degrees here in my home town yesterday. Can hardly wait for spring to get here!

The winter weather seems to hard on everyone this year. Spring will come...it has to...any minute now.

Hi Barb,

It has been an unusual winter in my neck of the woods. Episodes of freezing rain followed by a thaw and spring-like weather. This has gone on for over a month now. This morning ice we had the other day is gone and we'll be in the 50s for the next several days, but colder and freezing rain again Saturday! Just have to grin and bear it and go out when you can and enjoy life. Well, I mean I do that.

Hope the thaw continues. I am tired of winter, and we don't even get anything real bad here, but it's bad enough for me!

Take care and have a great day.

Hugs,

Renie

Barb-
I'm jealous of your warm up! We had more ice yesterday and now snow this morning. Blah. I had to return to work this week too which makes it even more gloomy. I'm crossing my fingers that all your snow will be melted away this morning.

Cactus Jack Splash said...

Hope your snow is gone and does not come back, or if it does only a small amount.
Our temperatures have risen to the 50s, I am hoping that we don't get back down to the teens,

Oh sweetie, what a horrible time y'all have had with the weather. Luckily we haven't had the precipitation but our tempatures have been crazy. Saturday it was 84 degrees and I was wearing a tank top. Sunday it was 39 degrees and I had three layers of clothes on! Here's to an early Spring!!

Did you send the winter to the south of France? It's freezing here! However I hope you'll be having warmer weather from now on! According to the weather forecast it should be warm again by Saturday here too!. I can hardly wait, especially because we don't have shelter for all of the horses. I know they are strong enough but I feel so sorry for them when it's snowing on their backs. I hope we will have shelters ready for next winter. For now, I just feed them loads of hay and alfalfa.

38 here but no rain. I hear you're sending it though... dagonnit!

WOW! Y'all got really warm there. Have you broken out the hula skirts yet?

Any flooding there? Darling has no school because the river flooded here and they can't get the buses out to pick up the kids. Never had a rain day when I was a kid...

I am really, kinda happy for you. After all you are not used to that much snow. Did you really find your camera?? :)

I think I'll stop bitching about my 30 to 40 degrees. At least I don't have snow.

You guys have been pounded up there this year and I'm so happy for you to be coming up for air. Loved the snake, too!

Thanks for all your support the last few days. And I love the pictures of all your very special friends. There's nothing like them, is there.....

Enjoy your day!

Don't like the snake. Don't like the snake at all.

I hear ya! I'm ready for spring.

We're told that it will warm up here very soon. Our winters are mostly just rainy and cool here. I still have winter coats I wore in Washington and Virginia that are far too warm to ever wear here.

The youngest is currently screaming his darling little head off. He hates tummy time. Did I say "hates"? That's just not passionate enough. He HATES tummy time. LOL!

Love to you,
Lacy & kids

I have spring fever so bad I can smell it!

OOh, we are a lot alike dearest! Our name is the same, our likes and dreams too in some cases. Although I never married a cowboy- the one I wanted died tragically young. And although I love my horses, I would also love to live (sometimes) near the Ocean. If I did I wouldn't want horses! But the Ocean would have to be somewhere warm, not the wild coast of California which I can get to any time I feel the need for a little solace.
Great scraps Pa'dner!

Well, is all of the snow/ice gone? We had a warm up here as well, the snow and ice melted, the mud is slick and the gravel road is interesting to travel. I try to love all of the seaons, but spring is sounding mighty good right about now....=)

And it's SUMMERTIME here!

Ahhh...just seeing your grass makes me feel warmer! I wish we had some of that melting up here in Ontario. Today is so cold it hurts to breathe out there! Brrr!

Quite the weather you are having there. I am so ready for spring. Today was beautiful....almost 60 degrees. Of course with warm weather comes the melting of snow and flooding down here.
