Where's the song ~~ "Don't let your daughters grow up to marry a Cowboy" ?

Life is tough! Requires hard physical work, long, long days of pain, dirt, and broken fingernails.
Days of frigid cold & scorching heat; through the dust & mud; daybreak into the darkness of nite~~
the heart & body becomes toughened & weathered replicating leather!
A forever constant factor for a real Cowboy's Wife is tons of sweat, oceans of tears and a constant 'drought' in the wallet!

IF she wants to spend anytime at all with her Cowboy, she must do as he does, you become partners!

Kick off your boots, grab a cup of coffee, sit back and envision yourself in my life!
... It really isn't that bad! There are many rewards to be had to make it a great lifestyle! ...

Tongue Twisters...

...and Faerie Tales!

Do you actually care...
~
"How much wood could a woodchuck chuck
if a woodchuck could chuck wood?" ?
~
Some people do!
Universities have actually been studying this
Tongue Twister for an answer, for years!
~
I personally, could care less...
"How much wood could a woodchuck chuck
if a woodchuck could chuck wood?"
*
*
I DO care about Faerie Tales though!
~
And I "Believe" in Faeries!
~
The Tooth Faerie,
Asrai, the Water Faerie;
I believe in Faerie Food
And Tinker Bell!
...and I firmly believe in...
Faerie Tale Endings...Cowboy and I are living one!
~
Fairies are Real!
~
Did you know there are "Wood Faeries" too?
~
No...Woodchuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood,
is NOT the "Wood Faerie" not even close!
*
*
*
~
~
*
Because we are remote, we read our own power meters.
There is no point in trying to cheat as once a year,
the power company sends out a human to verify your honesty.
Last week........the monthly reading I did.
Promptly doing the calculations
I cried out a loud "OUCH!"
~
Having been out of firewood for a month,
we've had to rely on the furnace to ward off
winter's unwillingness to warm our home.
Everyday, Cowboy works outdoors,
whether it's minus 20 or plus 100,
he could care less.
~
But Me? I'm a wooz.
I need warmth!
So I cranked on the heat.
Yet still 'freezing' indoors!
I was missing the intensely penetrating wood heat.
I begged Old Man Winter to lighten his grip!
*
Then....magically~
"Wood Faeries" appeared at dawn, on this Saturday past.
Sprinkling the ground with their miraculous wood dust!
As I awoke to the continuous thuds and tings,
I peered through the blinds in a sleepy awe!
Three little Fairies (actually quite large they were),
tip-toeing and tossing; happily hurling;
they were singing and splitting!
Watching the three Faeries sent tickles to my toes
and I danced away my winter heating woes!

When their work was done they set off for some fun.
Quickly disappearing beyond the hills of wheat,
I ~~~B~L~E~W~~~whispers over their wings...

"Please, return at dusk for a Faerie feast!"

....and they did!!

~
We all ate til our bellies jiggled,
we chatted and told stories galore.
The fiery flames crackled and wiggled,
And sprinkles of sleepy dust drifted softly to the floor...
It was late as we bid each a G'night.
We showed them to their beds,
Shared hugs and gratitude, then dimmed the lights.

When the new morning sun sought out the horizon,
the three "Wood Faeries" were gone.
They left without a sound, not a word, not even a song.

~

Had they truly been here I wondered?

~

~

Slowly stoking the glowing embers, I smiled...

~
I believe in Faeries...don't you?

Oh yes, oh yes - I believe in fairies. What lovely big strong fairies you had that morning, Barb! Bringing the fuel for that lovely woody warmth to your door.

(Seems I've had some bad fairies playing havoc with my bloggy dashboard, because this is the first post I've seen of yours for what seemed an absolute age. I was missing your hearwarming writings like mad, so the appearence of WOW on my dashboard today made it an extra special one!!)

Now those are faeries you can REALLY use. So glad they knew of your need and wanted to bless you. But of course, faeries always know these things. And they take care of those they love. Obviously, you qualify, and for very good reasons! Be warm!!

What a coincidence, I just posted about wanting a garden fairy.

I need someone, [said fairy] to come and clean up my deck. Just come and wave her magic wand.

I wonder......

Hooray for the wood faeries!!! Now you can enjoy your wood heat and turn that electric heat back down!! I wish the wood faeries would come visit me....we only seem to have enough wood around for a few fires off and on throughout the winter. It is just to far to drive to cut wood here and Hayman doesn't have the time in late summer or early fall to get that chore done. So if you see those wood faeries again...send them my way...=)

Yesterday, it felt like spring here....Yippeeeee!!!!

this was such a fun read & I believe, you should write short stories, I could see reading this to grandkids someday (when I have some) this would be fun to tell around a camp fire roasting marshmallows or something

I like big, strong, good-looking fairies! The kind that haul wood to my door, also!

Amanda said...

Send them my way!! We are also out of wood. You would not believe our power bill this month and neither can we. Please God end this winter so we can actually make ends meet on what income we have left and get our bigger garden going sooner rather than later.

Janice Thomson said...

Oh! There's nothing like a fire to soothe the soul. How wonderful the faeries came your way - what a delight for you to be warm again.

Maggie said...

Glad you can be warm again and it's nice the faeries knew just what to do! (I miss my fireplace so very much!)
