Where's the song ~~ "Don't let your daughters grow up to marry a Cowboy" ?

Life is tough! Requires hard physical work, long, long days of pain, dirt, and broken fingernails.
Days of frigid cold & scorching heat; through the dust & mud; daybreak into the darkness of nite~~
the heart & body becomes toughened & weathered replicating leather!
A forever constant factor for a real Cowboy's Wife is tons of sweat, oceans of tears and a constant 'drought' in the wallet!

IF she wants to spend anytime at all with her Cowboy, she must do as he does, you become partners!

Kick off your boots, grab a cup of coffee, sit back and envision yourself in my life!
... It really isn't that bad! There are many rewards to be had to make it a great lifestyle! ...

Life...

“In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life."
*
"It goes on.”
Robert Frost
~

....Whether you are ready or not!
~
As of late, I've not only been in a quandary and procrastinating too much
(yes, we all know how good I am at that)
but I have been languishing in a slump!
I am disgusted with my mind-set;
my lack of cohesion that I once took pride in.
~
I don't draw a paycheck for being me, no matter how productive nor how much I flounder, so there is no point in firing myself.
~~
Have you had a moment or an hour or even a day,
when you experienced an "awakening"?
~
Saturday, I awoke to realize that Life has been going on...
...without me!
~
I've been on a fast train going nowhere!
Nowhere productive or worthwhile.
~
Did I have a dream? I wondered.
Or was it feelings of guilt harbored deep within?
~
I don't really know, except that it slapped me square across my face!
I am pretty confident that I will carry this "Life Brand"
on my cheeks for weeks! Hopefully, as a constant reminder.
~
I decided to get a grip, pick up my pace and catch up with Life!
~
I am making some changes and rearranging my priorities.
~
I am setting some guidelines and aim to keep myself on track.
~ ~
I have taken on a few "projects" that I can no longer ignore!
They are important to me...and I'm curious where they will lead.
If I ignore them, I'll never know....
~
As I sit here typing, the working part of my brain is creating my path...
~
This week I am beginning with a clean slate!
I fully intend to keep up with Life!

Oh Barb...I know exactly how you feel!! I too, had one of those epiphanies while at the coast with my hubby; I decided that after turning 40( I know it's not that horrible), I was going to start wearing "cooler" clothes!! I've always wanted to wear jeans that have sparkly things on the legs etc. Why should young gals be the only ones to wear them??? So I found said pair and have had a ball wearing them.....I'm also thinking of decorating a few of my own?? Oh the fun I can have with lots of beads, glitter, glue and hot flashes at 3:00 am!!!! Hang in there sweetie!

I get that way a lot too and snapping out of it is so hard sometimes, good for you. I'm seeing a lot of things saying change things up, don't be so automated with your life, I think that's what happens, I get the been there, done that, what's the point attitude sometimes.

You have been an inspiration today

BTW, you're forward did work even though your end said it didn't

Sounds like you had a bad case of the winter blahs! Creating goals and a list of projects should get you back on track! And spring and gardening shall be here soon!

I know how you feel too.......now git on over here and slap me upside the head cause I need a jolt out of these winter blahs too!

I always have to have a list to keep me on track or like you said life will just pass you by. It is amazing how quick times flies, so get on board and enjoy the ride. The great thing is that you sound motivated with a great attitude.

yay you!

keep us posted on these projects, would you? =)

Well, you go girl! You put a spring in my step just reading about yours!

spring is just around the corner and so I hope that will help left the winter blahs that seem to have gripped you, too! Stay well!

Shoot, so many things have changed for us it seems like we are on another planet. All day i have been trying to figure how to cut costs on everything, thankful the winter is almost to an end and no more huge heating bills. Our hobby garden last year will be a survival garden this year. So many changes in such a short time, all goals were smashed and my head has been spinning too much to make fresh one. I have been on "breathe in now breathe out" mode for so long I really need to snap out of it and quit pretending that it is all a bad dream. This is our new real life, time to have a game plan!

I hear ya...it's been a really long winter and I feel like I've been asleep for the whole thing...I am determined to wake up and get with it again! Good luck to you :)

This is great! I have wallowed in the mud puddle of do nothing many times. I have found that the world does not come to an end if I do something I want to do. I also agree with Robert Frost.

Keep us posted!

Maybe I can get slapped in the face too b/c I sure do have a lot of projects that need my attention. :O)

The winter blahs can really get ya down! Life really does roll along even when we feel like curling up and hiding out for months on end. I do think that when those times creep up on us, it is life telling us to slow down, take some time for ourselves to reflect on what is truely important to us....then we get that slap in the face moment that wakes us up and puts us in motion. Sounds like you have a plan....so move forward, embrace life and keep us posted....=)

(((HUGS))) to you my friend!! =D

Great post! I know the feeling. quite often I am in your boots on this one. Lately, some things going on has me perking up and facing life a little more head-on. It's easy to take things for granted.

That post probably hit home with most of us. It seems we all are there at one time or another

I have been thinking that you were in a funk..Glad you are coming out of it..you have had a rough spell. Sometimes you just need a little time to wallow..so enougn is enough!! I often time tell myself "Self, do the things you can do something about, and the other things will have to just fall into place..I am not a super woman..nor do I intend to be..and thats OK.." End of lecture:)

The winter blah's suck don't they? I can hardly wait until it actually decides to be spring for more than a day. Good luck with your projects. I've got to go start on my list of things I need to get done too.

Thinking of you, Barb, this winter. I can't begin to tell you how many times I've found myself talking about you to Josh -- drawing strength from your experiences so we can make it through our own struggles. You are such an inspiration. Please remember that, Momma Barb.

Blessings and love and lots of hugs,

Barb, you are a constant source of inspiration, laughter and love to all your readers. So, even if you sometimes feel that you're free-falling, we'll all be here to catch you! But I reckon that, being Barb, you can catch yourself mid-flight and soar back to the mountain top.

You're wonderful - and it's great that you've got your mojo back! xx

I've heard it said that it's normal to fall into the pit every now and then. It's when you start putting curtains up in the pit and decorating that it's time for that slap in the face. We're not allowed to live there. Glad you're moving back to the topside!

Jenn said...

yeah yeah yeah WOW. SIssy knew on the phone the other day hence the topic of the conversation.
LUVS you anyway! Now go get some sunlight!

I know just what you've been going through. The longer you languish, the easier it is to just keep languishing. The longer you go without pushing yourself, the harder it is to bring out any of that amazing and energizing creativity. But once you figure out how to get it back, it's like a power boost! I'm glad you've found your motivation again. Now if I could just figure out where I put mine....

I think I need to be slapped too Barb.It has been a very long winter, what with all the economic news and everthing else that could go wrong.

Hi Barb,

You seriously have made my day and put a big smile on my face. Yes I have those moments as well. I've got cattle to move but it's pouring with rain here on the farm and well..they can wait til the morning. Love your blog and Feather the chicken says thank you for your compliment.LOL. The critter on my header is an Australian Brush tailed possum and rather pot bellied from eating all those trees.. Well you've got one more hitching on to your blog here.

Take care

You GO girl! Sometime we get so darn busy living life, that we just forget to LIVE, don't we?
The best part is knowing that we're not alone it doing it - it happens to all of us at one time or another.
I'll tell you what... I'll put the coffee on and you bring the cookies, okay? It's okay if you're a little bit late, 'cause we both don't mind cold coffee.
;-)
It's more about the company than the coffee anyway...

God will get our attention one way or another! I had a slap in the face just the other day. I'll need to share that with you later but I'm so glad that you've decided to catch up! Most often, making that decision is the hardest part - everything else will be easy!

Blessings~

I am thinking that most of us are in that place in the winter...following holidays. But part of it must be the economy as well...stinky bad news every day. But you are a pull up yourself by the bootstraps kind of person. Things will work out.

Well, I'm worn out, I'm old and I am a wife. But I am the 'cowboy', sort of. Not a boy and there aren't any cows, but plenty of horses and hard work.

I am having a hard time keeping my self going lately. I live in MN, so I will blame it on the awful winter.

Thanks for stopping in on my blog, it allowed me to come and visit here.

Boy, can I ever relate to this. In fact, the extent to which I relate is borderline scary. Thanks for sharing.

Janice Thomson said...

It's a real eye-opener isn't it when we figure that out :) Worse yet it can happen a few times because we seem to keep forgetting that life does go on...always. Good on you for coming to terms with it and starting to live again.

Morning Barb - poor old Mac - sounds so troubled and in need of you near him. Have you tried putting his bed on your side of the bed and just patting him to sleep like a wee baby - then whenever he wakes up, putting your hand down again, pat, pat, "There, there Mac. Mumma's here." approach? My wee dog (Dougal) is 11 and I think that's what I'll do if he gets like this.
