Where's the song ~~ "Don't let your daughters grow up to marry a Cowboy" ?

Life is tough! Requires hard physical work, long, long days of pain, dirt, and broken fingernails.
Days of frigid cold & scorching heat; through the dust & mud; daybreak into the darkness of nite~~
the heart & body becomes toughened & weathered replicating leather!
A forever constant factor for a real Cowboy's Wife is tons of sweat, oceans of tears and a constant 'drought' in the wallet!

IF she wants to spend anytime at all with her Cowboy, she must do as he does, you become partners!

Kick off your boots, grab a cup of coffee, sit back and envision yourself in my life!
... It really isn't that bad! There are many rewards to be had to make it a great lifestyle! ...

I Saw It Coming...

...as it peeked through the shadows!

First appearing as a long arm stretching across the distance.
It became bolder and more menacing.
Creeping faster, with dagger-like fingers, it grabbed for me.
Evil in demeanor, intentions of vengeance,
and with lightening speed accuracy - it latched on.
~
Swirling into dizzy land, it flung me like a limp noodle.
Wrapping my being around the bitter hardness of porcelain.
The lid exploded with a cruel throbbing anger.
Limp and empty, with sticky attachment...
~
A cottony warmth gathered me,
laying me gently into the billowing bundle of loftiness.
I flitted through hours of cold eyes of steel
into heated hugs of down.
~
Twilight 'til dawn, the battled raged on.
And On...
...And On!
~
Vicious and Unrelenting Attachment
-vs-
Meager and Weak Determination.
~
Today, I declare victory!
~
Foal WON... a filly.
Store LOST... permanently closed!

WoW! I have missed you so. (No- seriously, I missed the dickens out of you!!)

Sure hope you are on the mend now Dear Lady, and have vanquished the persistent bug to the depths of the septic system.

Rest up, and gain strength! This bug? It will attempt to come back for a round two....

Oh dear! That creative imagery you spun for us tells me it's been a tough time for you. I've been there...NOT fun!

wow , my mind went in 15 different directions when I was reading that "it wrapped you around porceline", I thought maybe you had diarrhea then when you were talking about the "billowing bundle of loftiness", I thought you were talking about unconsciousness, maybe a stroke or something. I'm glad it was "just" the flu and I'm glad your better! :)

Sure am sorry you were in the unforgiving clenches of a bug monster. Thank goodness you must be feeling at least a bit better to pen this so creatively! Those types take a lot of you. Be easy on yourself as you recover.

Gosh what a way with words you have Barb! I could picture this very clearly you poor thing. Glad to know you came out of it in one piece.
Yay! Victory for you!

Tessa said...

Crikey! Barb, you gave me a fright there, girl! I bet a flu lurgie hasn't been written about in such beautifully lyrical language before now - those words are sublime. (As is everything you write, of course!)

I'm so glad you can now declare victory, but, please, keep taking gentle care of yourself. We do all miss you so much when not able to be around.

Awfully sad about the store - it's happening down our way, too.
